This is Margaret McKitterick having her photograph taken in a Studio.
Just look at her outfit, on her head she is wearing a velvet bow and round her neck is a chocker made up of five strings of pearls and a large locket.
Her linen blouse is long sleeved and crocheted with a shamrock broach pinned to the front. The rest of her outfit has been embroidered and lined as you can see the lining inside her sleeve, remember that all of this was hand made

Sadly the people in this beautiful wedding photograph are unknown when you look at how imaculate they are all dressed, once again this came from Antrim.
The wedding party went to Belfast to have this photo by Abernethy Photographer by Royal Appointment to the late Queen Victoria of 29 High Street.

Here we have in a Belfast studio having their photograph taken is Ethel Magee sitting on her mum's knee who is Aileen Magee.
Aileen looks lovely with her string of pearls and just look at the hand made lace collars and cuffs.
Now Ethel was born in King Street Belfast which was not far from Smithfield Market, Later in life Ethel got married and her surname became Malseed.
Eventually Ethel, her husband and family came to live in Antrim in 1973, but a little birdie has told me that she will be 83 in November 2012.

MARKET DAY 3174
It's the 1970's and because it's a Friday it's Market Day in Antrim for this market was not held in the market square but up the Oriel Road.
It was a well attended market and as you can see plenty of stalls, if you wonder where it was on the Oriel Road it was behind McCabe's Garage.

Standing next to a brand new Royal Mail postal van in the 50's registration CXN 69, note the spare wheel and next to it a fire extinguisher, is William McKee getting ready to deliver a package to the house. I would be very interested in finding out where the photograph was taken.

Just going in to get the newspaper is William McKee Snr outside Tommy Thompson's shop which was in Market Square.
Now Tommy just about sold everything as can be seen in his shop window. Teacloths, remember the big black combs which were used to comb all the family's hair. Various Antrim postcards, jewellery, Sweets and Skippy cards. Skippy was a kangaroo in a popular TV series.

It's the 25th June 1943 with less than a year to the Dday landings.
This is William McKee Snr our local Antrim postman standing next to an American sergant whose name is sadly unknown.They are standing on the platform of Antrim Railway station and it must have been another American soldier taking the photograph.
For on the back of the photograph is stamped the following: Passed for Personal Use Only. Not for Publication. Theater Censor. E.T.O.U.S.

It is April 1962 and all smiles is William McKee being presented with the Imperial Service Medal for 52 years service in the Post Office by the manager while his colleagues look on.
