out the Shamrocks on St.Patrick's Day at the
Ballymena Showgrounds in 1962.
MAID OF ANTRIM
This a sight for sore eyes, the Maid of Antrim cruisng on Lough Neagh with
tourists on board.
The year was 1969.
MARKET SQUARE
This is James Baird of Baird's undertakers in Church street
photographed in the late 1930's at the side of the Court House.
If you look at the arched recesses you can see that they have iron railings
this is the exercise walkway for the prisoners.
MARKET SQUARE
The square was the focal point of Antrim at the time so let
us start at the left side of the photograph.
Here you can see a little girl shading her eyes looking towards the camera
while next to her a mother holds up her child to be seen.
Right above them at the top window is a black and white cat and in the bottom
right hand window a lady is looking out.
Standing in the doorway is most likely the owner of the Bluebird Café,
which was later owned by Miss Forbes,
next door is Thompson's who dealt in fancy goods.
The large building in the centre is the Court house and in front of it the
small building was the Weighing Bridge.
The six small boys in front of the Court house three of them are called Sammy
Kyle, Andy Hemmings and Bobby McCormick.

McCABES
Here's Sammy McCabe in December 1966 all ready to serve his customers their
turkeys at his shop in Castle Street. The string hanging down beside Sammy
was used to used to tie up the meat ect in the brown paper, no plastic bags
or selotape then which means it was more environmentally friendly.
