FLOUE TURF 4219
Standing outside his thatched cottage could be thinking ' Have i got enough to last us through the winter? ' The man has gathered 'Floue' turf, it has less dense turf sods from the
op of the bank They were usually cut with an ordinary spade for the speed of removal, hence the irregular shape. They also contained more un-rotted twigs and heather and where
easier to cut with a long straight spade rather than a proper turf spade.
Now does anyone know the reason for the branches around the turf? If you do please email me and if you want a copy of the photo I will send it to you.
