ANTRIM CASTLE

Not much left as the bulldozer ploughs on, only the Hexagon Tower which thankfully they left alone.

ANTRIM CASTLE

This is the front of the castle stripped of all the coats of arms before they finally demolished it.

This was April 1970 and a terrible sad day for Antrim folk. After leaving the castle to fall into decay without looking after it the council in their wisdom decided to bulldoze it down instead of trying to save what was left. These photographs are slightly out of focus but they show what can happen if you let it.

ANTRIM CASTLE

This is at the back of the castle and by now it is nearly all demolished except for the front. To the right of the picture is the start of the Motte.
